Susan Oetgen | |
Susan made her musical debut at age 6. as the featured soloist in the annual christmas pageant of St. Columba Elementary School in Oxon Hill, Md, she sang the world-premier of "Every Little Girl Would Like to be (The Angel on the Christmas Tree)," a holiday original composed by principal and music teacher, Mrs. Arlene Lynn. The glow of the spotlight was intoxicating and many thrilling years of community theater and high school musicals ensued. as an undergraduate, Susan set aside her love of performing for the sake of practicality and earned a BA in Theology from Georgetown University. She then went on to complete an MM in vocal performance/opera with a concentration in Latin American vocal music at the Catholic University of America. Since moving to Brooklyn in 2000, she has been devotedly, if circuitously, chasing the twin chimera of music and theater through the more traditional fields of opera and concert repertoire for soprano. Likeness to lily is the first flower of her endeavor to create, as well as interpret, the music she sings. official artist website
